The Glass Training Board do award its own qualifications. These can relate to a whole job or a key task in a job because of safety reasons. NVQs and SVQs are appropriate as nationally recognized qualifications but many employers in the glass and fenestration industry are seeking a level of qualification more appropriate to their needs in an ever increasing competitive world. Sometimes it is perhaps more appropriate to develop different assessment documentation that makes an NVQ much more user friendly to an employer. Do not simply assume that an NVQ or SVQs is the most appropriate qualification for your employees or business. Talk to GTL before you finalize your plans. GTL is able to offer free NVQs in England up to level 2. Please do not however take the least cost option as in the long run you need a qualified workforce that is going to improve your company's image, quality, profitability etc. Cost may not be the only consideration at the development stage.
