Glass Training Ltd offers a route to becoming a Chartered Manager. The more an
employer can display it employs professionally qualified people then this raises
the professional standards of a company and provides an individual with letters
behind their name equivalent to other chartered professions e.g. Engineer,
Accountant, Company Secretary etc.
The programme in the first instance leads towards a level 5 NVQ in management.
The level 5 is achieved through a series of recorded professional discussions on
the telephone at two weekly intervals. These discussions allow a manager to
explain what they know and can do. It is a way of reconstructing experience and
comparing this evidence against the national occupational standards in
management. The candidate manager does the talking and Glass Training Ltd record
the evidence on tape and do all the cross referencing. This is virtually a
paperless process for the candidate manager.
The candidate manager is visited at least once in his place of work to observe
him/her carrying out their normal management role. Questions are asked by the
Glass Training Ltd appointed assessor after a period of observation why a
candidate manager does certain things in a particular way. Also the candidate
manager has an opportunity to show to the Glass Training Ltd assessor the
paperwork and objects used in the management of the function or activity.
The final stage, once qualified at level 5, is to apply to become a chartered
manager. This involves the candidate completing the appropriate registration
forms and normally attending a panel meeting with members of the Chartered
Management Institute.
There is no compulsion to apply to be a chartered manager as many managers are
happy to finish the process when they have achieve a recognized Oxford and
Cambridge RSA level 5 qualification. The most important benefit is that it
gives a candidate manager and opportunity to review how to improve business
performance. There is also a great satisfaction in knowing you are already a
competent manager and have a certificate to prove it.
Glass Training Ltd charge £1750 per candidate for supporting a manager achieve
a level 5 NVQ. If a company is a member of Glass Training Ltd and intends to
spend over £5,000 per annum on services with Glass Training Ltd the fees can be
as low as £950 per candidate. This price compares well with say a Masters
degree in management which could cost over £4000.
