"I have reduced costs be over £600,000 by merging two departments. I've come a long way since being a YTS trainee in the industry 25 years ago and couldn't have got as far as I have without the learning conversations."

"I wasn't prioritising in the way that others were... Now I have more time to do the important things so the company benefits."

We have developed novel ways of assessing Management and Team Leading NVQs to make them more relevant to today's management staff. Assessment takes place over the telephone in a series of professional discussions with observation reports, witness testimonies from colleagues and photographic evidence also contributing to the candidate's portfolio. We know how busy managers are, that is why our assessors take on the responsibility for collecting the evidence, meaning that the qualification does not distract the candidate from their daily tasks.

This process takes assessment away from a one-sided monologue to a two-way conversation whereby managers can talk about what they have achieved and what they plan to put into place without having to write out essays in order to achieve their qualification. Our assessors have found that much more information can be recalled and communicated within a  fortnightly thirty minute conversation over the telephone than asking a busy manager to take time out from his work to fill in forms or answer questions in writing. These discussions are recorded and checked against the NVQ standard by our assessors, a process that our awarding body, OCR, have been very supportive of.

It also gives the candidate manager the chance to receive instant feedback from our assessors who themselves have many years of management experience, allowing the candidate to feel supported as they realise the skills they need to become an effective leader and communicator.

Our Management NVQs are priced at £1050 for Members of GTL, £1260 for Non-Members and dependent on the prior knowledge of the candidate, can be completed in as little as three months.

To find out if GTL's way is the best for you to achieve a relevant management qualification, please contact our advisors who would be happy to discuss the most relevant learning pathway for you.

Short Courses

A qualification may not always be the most relevant way to ensure quality and safety in your organisation. GTL are able to provide half-day, one-day and two-day short courses to cover a myriad of subjects, from training the trainer programmes to health and safety sessions, presentation skills to manual handling. These courses can either be delivered here at the Quadrant in Sheffield, or if there are enough candidates, at your workplace.

All our training courses can be tailored to suit your specific requirements and we will endeavour to use real-life situations and scenarios from your company to ensure that our training courses are as relevant as they can be.

Each course runs slightly differently depending on the subject matter, but all courses are limited to ten people to ensure that every candidate receives the support they need to fully understand the course content. Sessions include practical tasks, video presentations and discussions to vary delivery and ensure maximum candidate participation.

All prices are for courses held at the Quadrant and include refreshments. For more details about how to arrange a course to be run in-house at your company, contact us.
